Norfolk Island is a small island located in the Pacific Ocean between Australia and New Zealand. Norfolk Island is officially a part of the Commonwealth of Australia as an external territory, but it is largely self governed.
The Norfolk Island flag is a triband flag with a central white stripe between two green stripes. Inside the central white strip sits a Norfolk Island pine, a tree native to the island. The ratio of the Norfolk Island flag is 1:2.
The flag of Norfolk Island was approved by the Norfolk Island Council on 6 June 1979 and officially adopted on 17 January 1980 under the Norfolk Island Flag and Public Seal Act 1979.
