The flag of Burkina Faso is a horizontal bicolour featuring the colour red at the top of the flag and the colour green at the bottom of the flag. At the centre of the flag sits a five-pointed yellow star. The flag's colours are the Pan-African colours representing Burkina Faso breaking away from its French colonial past.
The flag of Burkina Faso was officially adopted on 4 August 1984 following a 1983 revolution.
